Rev. Donald L. Tompkins (1926-2011) | Visit Guest Book The Rev. Donald L. Tompkins, 84, of Painesville Township, passed away July 30, 2011, at Altercare of Mentor. He was born Sept. 4, 1926, in Cleveland. He was a former elementary teacher in the Wickliffe and New York City School Systems. He was a graduate of Cleveland State University and Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, Ill. He was ordained at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairport Harbor in 1967 and served several churches in the United States, Canada and Finland.

Survivors are his wife, Annikki; sisters, Mary Robinson of Oregon and Paula McBurney of Florida; two nephews, Paul Robinson and Ross Robinson; niece, Kristi (David) Barton; great-nephews, Drew and Sean; several cousins; and many friends.

Services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 250 Bowhall Road, Painesville. Private burial services were held Tuesday, Aug. 2, at Evergreen Cemetery. The Rev. John Mattson officiated the service. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's Building Fund or to the Preschool.
